From Bregenz, we continued our road trip south toward Liechtenstein. The winter sun followed us once again — crisp air, bright light, and wide alpine horizons.
Arriving in Vaduz, we expected a calm walk through one of Europe’s smallest capitals. Instead, we found the town in festive motion. It was Fasnacht — Liechtenstein’s carnival season — and a lively parade moved through the streets.
Costumed groups, brass bands, cheerful locals, and visitors lined the route. The atmosphere felt intimate rather than overwhelming. Vaduz remains compact, refined, and easy to explore on foot, even during celebration.
Above the town, Vaduz Castle overlooked the scene — a quiet reminder of the principality’s long history, contrasting beautifully with the playful energy below.
After walking through the center and taking in the unexpected carnival spirit, we continued our journey further south.
