Turin (Torino)

Industrial Heritage, Automotive Icons and Urban Contrast

Story

After the quiet elegance of Lago Maggiore and Verbania, Turin felt like a sudden shift in atmosphere. Larger. Rougher. Less curated.

We arrived in the evening with one clear plan: Visit the Automobile Museum the next morning — and continue our journey south.

Museo Nazionale dell’Automobile (MAUTO) • Modern and immersive exhibition design • Strong focus on Italian automotive heritage • Lockers available (even without coins) • Small café inside with reasonable prices • Recommended visit: 2–3 hours

Travel Notes

• Choose parking locations carefully, especially in urban areas • Avoid leaving visible items inside vehicles • Consider additional mechanical door locks for camper vans • Urban stops are different from lakeside towns • The museum is absolutely worth visiting

Museum Interior: • Clean lines • Industrial lighting • Historical cars as sculptural objects

City Exterior: • Contrasting architecture • Urban textures • Less polished compared to northern lake towns
